The administrator at any level in the hierarchy is able to configure widget options. By default, all widget settings are inherited from the tier above. To edit the settings of any widget, click 'Options' next to that widget:

You will be shown the widget options screen. Click 'Override' to configure widget settings for your tier in the hierarchy:

Widget options

Once you have clicked override, you may configure the widget settings. The options are as follows:

Availability

  • This widget is available for any role
    • This simply means that all users can use the widget
  • This widget is available only for selected roles
    • When this option is selected, you may choose which of the 6 Airhead roles can use this widget
  • The widget is not available for any role
    • When selected, no user in the establishment will be able to use the widget

Locations

It is possible to assert your location within Airhead to allow location based widget permissions. If you wish to configure location assertion, please contact Airhead.

  • This widget is available at any location
    • When selected, the widget is available to all users regardless of location
  • This widget is available only at the school location
    • When selected, the widget will only be active when users access Airhead from the school location
  • This widget is available except at the school location
    • When selected, the widget will only be active when users access Airhead from outside the school location
  • This widget is not available at any location
    • When selected, the widget will not be available to users regardless of location

Example of unavailable widget

Rather than removing a disallowed widget from a flightdeck, the widget will show on the flightdeck as unavailable:

In this example, the widget is unavailable for the user's role.

Inheritance

As widget permissions and settings follow the hierarchical model, administrators at higher tiers may wish to either allow or deny administrators at the tier below the ability to override the settings for a widget. This is controlled by the checkbox:
